(I'd like to preface this post by admitting that I have, in fact, purchased a mega pack of Top Ramen in the last 3 months.)
Sure, it's perfectly acceptable for a poor college student to consume sodium-packed dehydrated noodles. But, can a penny-pinching adult in a pant suit eat instant ramen noodles multiple times a week?
If you are eating it because you truly enjoy the taste, then by all means, continue eating ramen.
But, if you are eating it because your food budget for the month is close to nothing, then I'm here to tell you, PUT DOWN THE CHICKEN FLAVOR PACKET. You do have other options.
- Canned tuna in bulk - it's a great source of protein. Just add a little mayo and munch with crackers or on toast.
- Yogurt - the consistency grosses me out, but this is a wonderful way to start your day or keep you going during the mid-afternoon slump.
- Dried Pasta - You can buy in bulk for super cheap and it'll last for several meals. It's extremely difficult to screw up while cooking pasta and there are so many ways to spice it up, all while only dirtying one pot!
- Marinating chicken in salad dressing - this is a great way to "class up" your dinner (we are adults, remember?). Throw a chicken breast (frozen pack of 24 for $25) in a ziplock bag, toss in some salad dressing (anything you have lying around - about a third of the bag) and leave it in your fridge for a day or two. This will definitely taste better than the "chicken flavored" noodles you were about to eat.
